My Story

The idea of Integrative Health and Wellness (IHW) has been evolving since 2009 when, after having completed medical school and residency, I realized that there is more to health than what the current healthcare system addresses in the traditional sense. I am passionate about bridging the gap where conventional medicine is limited by taking a holistic approach and addressing all aspects of health—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

I am committed to creating a healthier, happier world to live in by changing one life at a time. My practice is based on the following core values:

  • Open-mindedness
  • Non-judgment
  • Understanding
  • Compassion
  • Integrity
  • Patience
  • Community
  • Love

I am particularly interested in (but not limited to) helping…

  • open minded individuals who are motivated to improve their lives and gain control over chronic illness/disease but may feel “stuck” and don’t know how or where to start
  • those who have multiple medical problems and seek an integrative explanation and deeper understanding of them
  • anxious or depressed individuals who feel lost like they are just “going through the motions” and would like to find a greater fulfillment and purpose in life
  • those who have specific goals in mind but need help creating an action plan and carrying through to those goals
  • businesses who want to maintain employee wellness and satisfaction

Background

I studied medicine at Georgetown University in Washington DC and trained in Family Practice at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA. I completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center in the underserved area of Lawrence, MA and am board certified in Family Medicine as well as in Integrative Holistic Medicine. I have also completed a Healing Touch Level 1 course, trained in medical acupuncture with the Helms Institute of Medical Acupuncture, and am a certified corrective exercise specialist by the National Association of Sports Medicine.

I’ve worked in various environments including community and private hospitals and clinics, Indian health reservations, and in New Zealand as a General Practitioner. I’ve also participated in medical missions to Nicaragua and Haiti. In addition to work and travel, I have competed internationally in taiji and started several free community classes in California, Massachusetts, and New Zealand which have continued on without my presence. My passion is helping others see the physical-emotional-mental-spiritual connections in health and life. I strive to inspire people to be who they are by empowering them through experience.

Most recently, I received my health coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.

Interests

I love being outdoors and in nature. As a result, I try to get outside at every opportunity I can. I believe it’s important to feel connected with the earth we come from and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Breathing in the sun fills me with warmth, love, and happiness. I would love to share this experience with you.
